Ilan Evans
My name is Ilan Evans, I’m 20 and aside from tying flies I work in the family business "Y Gwyniad" which is a fishing tackle shop in the town of Bala, not far from the shores of Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) and the river Dee, in North Wales.
I am a young professional fly tyer and have been tying flies and fishing since my primary school days.
In 2011, I represented my country as a member of the Welsh Youth Fly Fishing team at Loch Menteith in Scotland. The Welsh Team came 2nd out of the 4 Nations.
I have tied flies at the Welsh Fly Fair, North Wales Fly Fair, the Irish Fly Fair in Galway at the Angling Expo in Dublin. I also demonstrated my skills on the UK Fly Dressers Stand at the British Fly Fair International 2012, and on the fly tiers row since then.
I am an active member of the Fly Dressers Guild and attend weekly sessions, I also teach fly tying to members of Bala Angling Association, and demonstrate my tying in many clubs
My speciality flies are – competition and river flies, and micro flies (size 32).
