Hi I’m Phil Jones;
I live in Preston, Lancashire and am 49 years old. I’ve been fishing for as long as I can remember, but I got interested in fly tying by accident after I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999 and fishing itself became too physically demanding for me.
I still wanted to keep my obsession with all things fishy alive though, and after seeing an advert for fly tying I thought I’d give it a go!
I began by taking lessons from a local legend, which is one of the best decisions I ever made! It’s taken years of practice (and a lot of feathers!) but I am now an addicted and slightly obsessed fly-tier.
I love tying classic salmon flies, mainly gut-eyed; I spend a lot of time trying to find antique hooks and other tying paraphernalia. Come and have a chat on the day – I look forward to meeting other obsessives!
