I have fished for as long as I can remember, growing up on a farm where the River Lune ran through the land was an opportunity to spot lovely trout sheltering under the overhanging bushes. I was so interested in fishing that, along with my husband Bob, we opened a fishing tackle shop in Kendal which we ran very successfully for 30 years. Selling the business in 2004 gave us the opportunity to spend more time fishing and also to gain fly casting qualifications. We both hold the Game Angling Instructors Association single handed qualification and attend many continuing professional development days to keep up to date with modern techniques.
We have been lucky enough to spend our holidays visiting exciting destinations overseas where we have caught a large variety of species of fish from blue marlin in the tropical oceans to grayling and trout in many parts of Europe. Sailfish, dorado and bonefish on a fly rod are very very exciting.
We specialize in giving one to one fly casting and fly fishing tuition, especially for beginners entering the sport and for intermediate level anglers who wish to improve their skills. My aim is to get more ladies interested in taking up fly fishing and I started the North West lady fly fishers group in 2011 which now has a good following of very capable lady anglers, many who had never fly fished before, who meet up regularly to fish together.
